PROJECTS

CORPORATE TOXICS INFORMATION PROJECT

The Corporate Toxics Information Project analyzes and disseminates information from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on corporate releases of toxic chemicals and greenhouse gases and the resulting exposures of communities to air and water pollution hazards, including the well-known Toxic 100 database. The Project aims to help community-based activists and socially responsible investors to translate the right to know into the right to clean air and water. See the Project website here.

CAPITAL FLIGHT FROM AFRICA

Ongoing research on capital flight from Africa at the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst explores the mechanisms, magnitudes, causes, and developmental consequences of the hemorrhage of capital from Africa to offshore secrecy jurisdictions. See the Project website here.

ECON4: ECONOMICS FOR PEOPLE AND THE PLANET

Econ4: Economics for the People and the Planet aims to change both the economics profession and common-sense understanding about how the economy works and should work. To this end it shares links to commentary on economic affairs and videos suitable for classroom use. See its website here.

NATURAL ASSETS PROJECT

The Natural Assets Project, a collaborative initiative supported by the Ford Foundation, explored the scope for reducing poverty by building assets in the form of natural capital. Pro-poor natural asset building strategies simultaneously reduce poverty and advance the rights of current and future generations to a clean and safe environment. The books and a number of popular publications came out of the Project. See its website here.
